ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Qualification Pathway
The upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in 2024 is poised to make cricket history as 20 teams,
Twelve teams have already secured their places for the 2024 show piece. As hosts, the West Indies and the USA take the first two spots, then, the top eight teams in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 (top four in each Super 12 group) gained their places, along with Afghanistan and Bangladesh who were the next best teams on the MRF Tyres ICC T20 International Rankings cut-off date of 14 November 2022. The top two in each group will then make their way to the semi-finals. The remaining eight qualifiers will come from the regions with Africa, Asia and Europe providing two teams each and the Americas and EAP providing one team each.
The qualified teams so far are; West Indies (host), United States of America (host), Australia (top eight finish), England (top eight finish), India (top eight finish), Netherlands (top eight finish), New Zealand (top eight finish), Pakistan (top eight finish), South Africa (top eight finish), Sri Lanka (top eight finish), Afghanistan (highest ranked team outside of the teams that have automatic qualification based on the T20I rankings at November 14 2022 cut-off) and Bangladesh (next best on T20I rankings at November 14 2022 cut-off).
The teams will be distributed into four groups, with 12 already securing their spots. Hosts West Indies and the USA claim the first two positions, while the top eight from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022, along with Afghanistan and Bangladesh, round out the initial qualifiers.
The qualified teams so far include West Indies, United States of America, Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. The additional eight qualifiers will be determined from the regions, with Africa, Asia, and Europe providing two teams each, and the Americas and EAP contributing one team each.

Once the initial groups play out, the top two teams from each group will advance to a Super Eight phase, where the remaining teams will be divided into two groups of four. This stage sets the stage for the thrilling semi-finals and, ulti mately, the crowning of the T20 World Cup champion.
