2023 Game Awards Nominations Unveiled: Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 Lead with Eight Nods Each

Nominations for the highly anticipated 2023 Game Awards have been revealed, recognizing outstanding contributions to the gaming industry. Two standout sequels, Alan Wake 2 by Remedy Entertainment and Baldur’s Gate 3 by Larian Studios, lead the pack with eight nominations each, including the coveted Game of the Year category. Joining them are other notable titles, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In the realm of adaptations, notable films and series, including “Castlevania: Nocturne,” “Gran Turismo,” “The Last of Us,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” and “Twisted Metal,” have been nominated for Best Adaptation.

Nintendo emerges as the frontrunner among nominated publishers, boasting 15 nominations, followed closely by Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation with 13, Xbox (including Bethesda and Blizzard) with 10, and Epic Games with nine.

A total of 112 nominations span various categories, representing games, individuals, teams, and events across diverse genres and platforms. The nominees are selected by a global jury comprising individuals from over 100 media publications and influencer outlets.

The 10th annual Game Awards ceremony is set to stream live from the Peacock Theater in L.A. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, accessible on more than 30 platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, TikTok Live, and Twitter. Aside from announcing winners, the event promises premiere announcements, trailers, live music performances, and celebrity appearances.

Until Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. PT, fans can actively participate by voting for their favorites in all categories through online voting on thegameawards.com. Additionally, fans have the opportunity to vote for Game Awards nominees on the official Discord server and engage in a live watch party on Dec. 7, reacting to the winners in real time.

The Game Awards is spearheaded by executive producers Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim, featuring creative director LeRoy Bennett and director Richard Preuss.
